The heavy cast iron lid really does trap the steam in, so my basmati turns out tender every time without any fiddling. It's only 1.5 quarts, which is perfect for two portions but you can't cook for a crowd in it.

Rice came out perfectly fluffy with no sticking at all, and the 1.5 qt size is just right for two servings. The lid fits so snugly that I barely needed any water compared to my old pot. It's heavy, but that solid cast iron feel is exactly what I wanted for even cooking.

The matte black finish looks even better in person—so sleek it's almost modern art on my stovetop. Used it for rice tonight and the cast iron heat distribution was spot on, no scorched bottom at all. My only wish is that it came in a larger size for big family meals.
